"As a professional sailor, the sun and salt water destroy my hair. Having a quality hair tie is one less thing causing damage! I love that I can wear my TIY as a bracelet and I’m able to keep some style while competing! These hair ties are the only ones that do not break and they keep my thick hair in place."
Hair Care Routine
If my hair is going to be getting wet, it’s important that the first thing it absorbs is something nourishing. I start each sailing day by getting it wet and using a leave-in conditioner; it’s easy to travel with packs of hair masks which is a layer of protection from the salt, sun and wind damage! Think of it as the sunscreen for your hair, and it smells good. If I forget this step and it’s a windy day, I come home to tons of knots and my hair feels like straw.
I get regular trims, usually once every three months and sometimes once a month. I also think it’s important to see the same stylist consistently. The person who cuts my hair, Lindsey, knows my lifestyle and how my hair acts and she helps me with overall care. I have a shampoo and conditioner I love and always travel with this, and the one thing I’m willing to spend money on is a great mask!
