This Earth Day we will explore the importance of being environmentally conscious with an emphasis on hair ties and their environmental impact.

One of the key messages of Earth Day is the importance of keeping the planet clean. Cleanliness is not just about picking up trash or maintaining hygiene; it goes beyond that. While our individual efforts to be environmentally conscious might feel minuscule when large corporations and governments are killing our planet, each individual effort and action does make a difference. Slowly our culture has begun to shift with the younger generation. People are making the changes and taking a stand to try to preserve our planet. One movement that comes to mind is when we collectively decided to save the turtles by using metal or paper straws instead of plastic ones. If we could implement change like that with more products, we could really start to make an impact. Where do we think everyone should turn their attention to next? Hair ties.

Hair ties are often used and discarded frequently, and due to their small size, they are easily lost, misplaced, or left behind. They are also known to break and snap easily, creating loads of waste. Over time, these discarded hair ties can accumulate in landfills, oceans, and other natural habitats, contributing to plastic pollution. Plastic pollution is a critical environmental issue that poses threats to wildlife, marine ecosystems, and human health. When hair ties end up in oceans or other bodies of water, they can entangle marine life, such as sea turtles, dolphins, and seabirds, leading to injuries, entrapment, and death.
