World Afro Day

Happy World Afro Day! World Afro day started in 2017, and has since become an annual celebration that aims to promote appreciation and education for Afro hair. Here at TIY our hair ties are geared towards inclusion. When imagining a better hair tie, it meant a better hair tie for all hair types. Think about when you enter your local convenience stores for hair ties, there's separate brands for different hair weight, type, and for desired style. We wanted to close this gap and become the one hair tie that could do it all, for everyone. We are a brand that focuses on bringing together communities and people from all walks of life.
Afro hair has a history of discrimination, and World Afro Day serves as an important day for education, along with acceptance. We would like to take a moment to share some important resources below to help spread awareness on hair equality.

- Hair Equality Report: https://www.worldafroday.com/teaching-diversity-inclusion/#equality
- Duke Research on Hair Inequality: https://www.fuqua.duke.edu/duke-fuqua-insights/ashleigh-rosette-research-suggests-bias-against-natural-hair-limits-job
Hair equality is extremely important at TIY, as a brand that aims to be one product that doesn't discriminate against texture, weight, or style. We hope that today our customers with Afro hair feel celebrated and appreciated!
