Women to Watch: Logan Eggleston Edition

As Black History Month comes to a close and Women’s History Month begins let’s take a moment to uplift and celebrate a black woman who shines positivity to her teammates, to the Austin community, and now to the world. This is Logan Eggleston.

Logan played division one volleyball at the University of Texas, recently winning the NCAA National Championship. Logan was captain all four years, and was a shining light of positivity for her team. Teammate Molly Phillips shared that, "Logan has a welcoming and caring personality that made it almost too easy to become her friend. From day one we became like family, and her attitude of encouragement and kindness is something that I’m forever grateful for."

In 2021 alone she accumulated an impressive amount of awards including:
VolleyballMag.com National Player of the Year...AVCA First Team All-American...Big 12 Conference Player of the Year...AVCA Southwest Region Player of the Year...CoSIDA Academic All-American...First Team Academic All-Big 12...AVCA National Player of the Week (Nov. 30)...5x Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week (Sept. 7, Nov. 9, Nov. 16, Nov. 30).

In addition to her impressive volleyball skills, she is philanthropic. Logan is apart of the GoFundMe College Charity Challenge where she is raising money for the The Excellence and Advancement Foundation on behalf of their initiative Break the Pipeline which aims to disrupt the relationship between race, schooling and incarceration. The Excellence and Advancement Foundation website states: “We do this work through Prevention, Intervention and Advocacy Services. We envision a world where black and brown children aren't criminalized at school.”

Logan was also the president of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee for 2 terms, and helped found the LEAD Initiative which helps empower student athletes to support Texas nonprofits. Through her many philanthropic projects and her interests in activism, Logan shows that she very passionate about giving back to her community and helping young people reach their potential in their sport, education, and career. Currently, Logan plays professional volleyball abroad for Glalatasaray Voleybol in Turkey. We are excited to watch her continue to grow as she steps into her professional volleyball career, as well as watch her spread her abundant kindness and positivity to the world.
