Dre’s Takes: The Joy of Gifting

Dre’s Takes: The Joy of Gifting

If you know me, you know this: gifting is my love language.

There’s a certain magic in finding the perfect thing for someone you care about—and not just for birthdays or holidays. I love buying gifts year-round, grabbing little treasures whenever something reminds me of a friend, a family member, or even a neighbor I haven’t seen in a while.

Surprise Gifting > Everything

In my world, an impromptu gift is the best kind of gift.
There's nothing better than surprising someone just because you thought of them. No occasion. No expectations. Just a little burst of joy when they least expect it.

Maybe it's because I love surprises so much myself, but seeing someone’s face light up is the ultimate reward.

A Fun Fact from My Past Life (Literally

When I was 11, my life changed forever: my family moved from Venezuela to Italy. It was exciting, but it also meant leaving so much behind—including my prized collection of 200 Barbie dolls (yes, 200!).

Instead of boxing them up or selling them, I decided to gift them—every single one—to my friends and neighbors back home. It was my way of saying thank you, I love you, and I’ll never forget you.

Even now, years later, that memory reminds me why giving feels so special: it's a way of keeping connections alive, no matter where life takes you.

What About You?

Do you love giving gifts too?
Or is receiving them your jam?

Either way, gifting is about so much more than the thing itself—it’s about the thought, the connection, and the love that’s woven into every surprise.

At TIY, we believe little moments of joy, just like little gifts, can make a big difference. Whether it’s a surprise package in the mail, a random act of kindness, or simply telling someone you thought of them—you never know how much it might mean.

So, what’s the best impromptu gift you’ve ever given or received? We'd love to hear your story
